Barbara Tarleton

August 26, 1925 - October 28, 2014

Barbara Z. Tarleton, of Charlotte, NC, born August 26, 1925 in Huntington, New York, died peacefully in her home on October 28, 2014.

Mrs. Tarleton was preceded in death four years ago by her husband of 60 years, Howard A. Tarleton. She is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth T. Chapman; son-in-law, Dr. Geoffrey S. Chapman, of Charlotte, North Carolina; Victoria T. Craig and Mark D. Elder of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren, Katherine Chapman Kelsey, David Chapman, and Peter, Trevor, and Caroline Craig; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, William J. Ziegler, of South Pasadena, CA.

After being raised on the East Coast, Barbara longed for sunny skies and sandy beaches so the family relocated to San Marino, California in 1963. The family spent the next 30 years there where Barbara worked for Bill Winn Clothiers. She and Howard moved to Charlotte, NC in 1963.

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye as she leaves us to rejoin Howard, the love of her life, forever. We will always be indebted to the kind and loving caregivers, Essie, Babby, Betty, and Parthenia, and Drs. John Benedum and Joe Mueller who took wonderful care of her.

Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 507 S. Tryon St.
