Mr. Charles Rutherford passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014. 

Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of Richard Glenn Rutherford, Sr. and Alison Verdery Rutherford Price. He was a real estate developer and worked in property management. He was a graduate of Aquinas High School in Augusta, GA and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC, where the family will have a memorial service on May 17th at 2 p.m.

Charles was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Charles lived his life by helping others live their life to the fullest, and brought many laughs through his unique thoughts and actions; he was loved by many for his giving spirit. Charles' last wish was for family and friends to celebrate each day by enjoying life and through acts of kindness. 

Survivors include his wife, Valerie Jones Rutherford; his three angels, Brandon Charles Rutherford, Brantley John Rutherford and Summer Pearl Rutherford; his parents, Richard and Connie Rutherford, Alison and Norman Price; brother, Richard Glenn (Myra) Rutherford, Jr.; sisters, Alison Walker, Susan (Danny) Houck, Nancy (Jamie) Zorn; father-in-law, Johnny (Brenda) Jones; mother-in-law, Debbie (Tab) Bonidy; grandparents, Lexsy Jones and Bonetta Bolen. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Jane Scivelli and grandparents, Wilson and Margaret Rutherford, Albert and Louise Verdery, Edward Bolen and Morris N. “Coach” Jones.

Graveside funeral services for Charles Douglas Rutherford, 48, of Charlotte, NC will be held eleven a.m., Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Blackville Cemetery with Dr. Tim Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from five to seven p.m., Thursday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be given in Charles’ memory for his children’s college fund to Wells Fargo in care of Brandon, Brantley and Summer Rutherford or to 7221 Tobin Court, Charlotte, NC 28211.
