Rose Hodges

Rose Marie Bozart Hodges of Charlotte, N.C. was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior in the early hours of Wednesday morning, January 8th following a brief battle with congestive heart failure.

She was the second oldest of five children born to Benton F. and Roselle "Rosie" Bozart of Garner, N.C. A 1954 graduate of Garner High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles F. Hodges, on November 25, 1955. She has supported him in Christian ministry as a constant companion for 58 years. During their early years she was the church pianist wherever they ministered and from 1994 to retirement in 2002 she was First Lady to Florida Baptist Children's Homes while her husband served as President of that statewide childcare institution. 

Since retiring the Hodges' returned from Florida to their native state and to Charlotte in 2005 to be near their son, William C. "Bill" Hodges with Duke Energy, daughter-in-law Renee, a paralegal, and grandchildren Samantha, a senior at UNC Chapel Hill, J.T. Harder, a junior at UNC Charlotte, and Charlie, a high school senior. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Bozart Smith of Charleston, S.C., niece Kim Smith Rentz of Charleston, brother Robert F. Bozart of Raleigh, NC and a host of friends across several states.

She was an active member of University Hills Baptist Church in Charlotte and enjoyed helping plan for senior adult events and returning to the piano for Wednesday night services. She was a member of the Lewis Walker Bible Study group.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 with visitation beginning at 12:15 pm at University Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Coye Still, III officiating. Burial followed at Gethsemane Memorial Park
