August 8, 1942 - August 25, 2014

Phillip E. Williams Sr., 72, of Rock Hill, SC, went to live with his Heavenly Father on Monday, August 25, 2014.

He was known to many as “Papa Phil.”  Visitation will be held at 5 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at New Hope Baptist Church, 575 Neelys Creek Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29730 with the memorial service following at 6 pm.  The Rev. Albert Mickles, Rev. Barry Burleson, and his son, Rev. Ed. Williams will officiate.

Phil was the son of the late Ralph Daniel Williams and Mildred Williams Crosby.  Phil was a true legend—he touched so many lives in many ways.  He constantly opened his heart and his home; he never turned anyone away.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather to many.  Knowing Phil, you know he loved God, his family, and his Church.  It was a blessing to know, love, and be loved by him.  He truly will be missed.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Delta Williams; two sons, Phillip E. Williams Jr. (Robin), and David Williams of Rock Hill; two sisters, Betty W. Boyd (Donald) of Great Falls, and Joyce Green (Steve) of Fort Lawn; one sister-in-law, Debbie Williams of Rock Hill; four brothers, Tommy Williams (Barbara) and John Terry Williams (Tonda) of Fort Lawn, Frank Williams (Becky) of Catawba, and Gary Williams (Wanda) of Mt. Holly; ten grandchildren, Brandy McGhie (Tyler) of Round O, SC, Jacob Williams (Krissy), Dustin Williams (Anna), Heaven Williams, Hope Williams, Erica Mejia, Alex Mejia, Alyssa Mejia, Nevaeh Collins, and Daniel Collins of Rock Hill; five great-grandchildren, Paisley Wolfe, Wells McGhie, Jaxen Williams, Kamdyn Williams, and Jake Williams.  He was a loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Tiller and Bonnie Lou Williams; and two brothers, Charles and James Williams.


In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 575 Neelys Creek Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
