Robert McClure

Robert "Bob" McClure
May 7, 1932 - July 22, 2014
Robert Scott McClure passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in the Harris Hospice Unit at Novant Presbyterian Hospital.

Bob was born May 7, 1932 in Charlotte, NC to the late Scott B. McClure and Bertha Kenley McClure. He graduated from Paw Creek High School and was the owner of and retired from Robert McClure Trenching. He was a lifetime member of Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served on the Board Deacons and served as a youth advisor. Bob was a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Gretchen Corell McClure. Also preceding him in death were his brothers Bill (Lib), Rowan (Virginia), and four sisters Nell, Nancy, Betty, and Mae McClure. Bob is survived by two sons, Scott and Tim McClure both of Charlotte and granddaughter, Lauren McClure of Woodlands, Texas. Bob is also survived by three brothers, Gerald McClure, Tom McClure, Corky (Suzie) McClure and sister-in-law, Freda Caldwell. Bob is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him and by special friends, Jimmy and Geraldine Rhodes. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Reverend T.J. Thompson officiating. Visitation will follow in the Fellowship Hall. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3413 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., Charlotte, NC 28216 or to Novant Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233-3549. Special thanks are expressed to the wonderful nursing staff at Novant Presbyterian Main and especially to the staff on the 3rd floor Harris Hospice Unit.
