Victoria VanZandt Britton passed away quietly in her home
in Charlotte, NC on May 31, 2014, after a long illness.
She was born in
Pasadena, CA on June 27, 1950, was raised and lived her life in Charlotte. She
attended Fairfax Hall in VA and Belmont College in NC.
Victoria is survived by
her brother, Dr. George M. (Tim) Britton of Winston-Salem, NC, her sister Linda
C. Britton of Charlotte, NC, and several nieces and a nephew.
Ms. Britton was
laid to rest on Wednesday, June 4 in the Memorial Garden at Christ Episcopal
Church alongside her beloved parents, William J. (Bill) Britton and Cristina
Welles Britton.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Jude's
Hospital.

The daughter of the late John Glidden and Miriam Thomas Glidden, she was born and raised in Weymouth, Massachusetts, and graduated from Weymouth High School in 1956. She met her future husband, Robert "Bob" George Miller in night school, and they married on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1960.
In addition to her husband, Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Janice Eileen Miller of Cramerton, NC; her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Miller Rhoades and Jerry "Dusty" Rhoades, Jr. of Carthage, NC; two grandchildren, Nicholas Gray Rhoades and Nina Morgan Rhoades; two sisters, Barbara Brooks of Mint Hill, N.C., and Natalie Thompson of Londonderry, NH; four nephews and seven nieces.
Evelyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother and "Grammy" and will always be remembered and cherished for the joy she brought to our lives. After moving to Charlotte in 1973, Evelyn and Bob found a special church home at St. Andrews Methodist Church where they both sang in the choir for many years and found many dear and wonderful friends.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church (1900 Emerywood Drive, Charlotte). A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 3 PM, after which her ashes will be interred in the church's columbarium and prayer garden.

Charline Spencer
Charline Virginia Spencer, 86,
of Grafton, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Charlotte,
North Carolina. She was born in Cunard, West Virginia to Charles and Pearl
Sheppard on September 6, 1927.
Charline will be greatly missed
by her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, board games,
shopping, listening to gospel music, travelling and most of all spending time
with her family.
Charline’s memory will be
cherished by her six children: daughters Trenia (Shahbaz) Amidi of Greensboro,
NC, Barbara (Harold) Hays of Ravenna, OH, Shelia Spencer of Cape Coral, FL;
sons Roger (Cathy) Spencer of Charlotte, NC, Mike (Brenda) Dunbar of Beckley,
and Paul (Tina) Spencer of Cortland, OH; daughter-in-law Debbie Spencer of
Clarksburg; four sisters, Camilla Richmond of Newark, OH, May (Paul) Stipe of
Flemington, Rita (Pete) Boblett of Beckley, and Wanda Lantz of Grafton. Also by
lifetime family friend, Chuck Yates; 17 grandchildren and 29 great
grandchildren.
In addition to her parents
Charline was preceded in death by her husband George Alvin Spencer; sons Kermit
Randy Spencer and Charles Alvin Spencer; sister Kathleen Stipe and brother
Basile Sheppard.
Friends may call at the Donald
Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Monday, May 19th from 4-8 PM and on Tuesday,
May 20th from 10-11 AM at the Message of Freedom Church where the Funeral
Service will be officiated by Pastor Michael Stottlemyer at 11:00 AM. Interment
will follow at The West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
Benjamin Longenecker
Benjamin Monroe Longenecker, 11, passed away in his
home in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, May 10th, 2014. He was born on
August 11, 2002, in Dallas, Texas to loving parents Jeffrey and Leslie
Longenecker.
In his brother Nicholas' words, "Ben was the best brother in the world because he was always so helpful."
Ben loved to create and play music on his keyboard. He was a curious boy and craved knowledge. He loved to read adventure and science fiction; his favorite books were the Percy Jackson series. He had a passion for science and innovation and loved investigating these subjects online.
Ben is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Leslie of North Carolina; his brother Nicholas. He also leaves his paternal grandparents Woody and Erma Miller of Pennsylvania; and his maternal grandmother Candace Sanders of Arizona. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Forest Hill Church, Fort Mill Campus on Wednesday, May 14th 2014, at 6:00 P.M.

Whisenant, 87, of Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Arab died Tuesday, May
6, 2014 in Hospice House Southminster in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mr. Whisenant was born October 30, 1926 in Marshall County, the son of Herbert and Carrie Hendrix Whisenant. He was married nearly 60 years to the former Ramona King when she preceded him in death April 21, 2012.
He was a member of the Arab Church of Christ and served his Country in the United States Navy during World War II; he also served in the Korean War.
He is survived by a son: Jim Ed Whisenant; daughter and son-in-law: Robin and Frank Lowe; 2 grandchildren: Hannah Lowe and Ross Lowe; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Willadene and Carl Hendrick and Martha Sue Chapman.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Arab Church of Christ.

Mr. Charles Rutherford passed away Tuesday, May
6, 2014.
Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of Richard Glenn Rutherford, Sr. and Alison Verdery Rutherford Price. He was a real estate developer and worked in property management. He was a graduate of Aquinas High School in Augusta, GA and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC, where the family will have a memorial service on May 17th at 2 p.m.
Charles was a devoted husband, father,
son, brother, and friend. Charles lived his life by helping others live their
life to the fullest, and brought many laughs through his unique thoughts and
actions; he was loved by many for his giving spirit. Charles' last wish was for
family and friends to celebrate each day by enjoying life and through acts of
kindness.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Jones Rutherford; his three angels, Brandon Charles Rutherford, Brantley John Rutherford and Summer Pearl Rutherford; his parents, Richard and Connie Rutherford, Alison and Norman Price; brother, Richard Glenn (Myra) Rutherford, Jr.; sisters, Alison Walker, Susan (Danny) Houck, Nancy (Jamie) Zorn; father-in-law, Johnny (Brenda) Jones; mother-in-law, Debbie (Tab) Bonidy; grandparents, Lexsy Jones and Bonetta Bolen. Graveside funeral services for Charles Douglas Rutherford, 48, of Charlotte, NC will be held eleven a.m., Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Blackville Cemetery with Dr. Tim Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from five to seven p.m., Thursday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be given in Charles’ memory for his children’s college fund to Wells Fargo in care of Brandon, Brantley and Summer Rutherford or to 7221 Tobin Court, Charlotte, NC 28211.

George was born June 30, 1922 in Townsend, DE. He was the first on to his parents, James A. Hart and Mary Cochran Hart. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife Frances B. Hart whom he married on June 25, 1944 and his younger brothers, James & Rodney.
George and Frances are survived by their two children, Anne Dewees Hart and her husband William Pump of Charlotte, NC, and George M.D. Hart Jr. and his wife Lucy of Orlando, FL. George and Frances are also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
