Gardner W. Heidrick, Jr. of Charlotte, NC died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at his residence at Southminster Continuing Care Community, following a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was born April 23, 1939 in Kansas City to the late Gardner and Eileen Heidrick, Sr. Gardner graduated with Honors from Princeton University in 1961 and from the University of Chicago School of Business in 1964.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Gordon Heidrick; son, Gardner Wilson Heidrick, III and wife Ingrid Towers Heidrick; son, Joseph Heidrick Fowler and wife, Ashley Pigford Fowler; and daughter, Julie Heidrick Richards.  He is also survived by his five beloved grandchildren, Laurel Fowler, Thomas Fowler, Taylor Richards, Ben Richards, and Greta Heidrick.  In addition, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Raynelle Heidrick; niece, Kim Ransom; nephew, Steve Ransom; niece Lindsay Heidrick Garrison and family; as well as his very special friend, Lorenza Graham.  He was preceded in his death by his brother, Robert Heidrick.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm Thursday at Southminster Continuing Care Community in Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Eileen Lindsay Heidrick Professorship in Oncology, U of I Foundation, 1305 West Greene St., Urbana, IL 61801, or to The University of ChicagoGraduate School of Business.
