Molly Fettig July 22, 1938 - September 20, 2014 |
She was born on July 22, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio, where she spent her childhood. She attended the University of Dayton, graduating in 1960, and remained an avid UD fan and proud Flyerette throughout her life. In addition to UD sports, Molly loved watching college football, basketball, and soccer, and above all, any sport her kids and grandkids played. She loved to travel, living throughout the US from Hawaii to Camp LeJeune, NC, and visiting many countries in Europe.
Much of Molly's life revolved around her love and compassion for children. She was a beloved kindergarten teacher for nearly twenty years at Aquinas School in Woodbridge, VA. Later, she helped countless children and their families as a social worker in the Florida Keys. Molly was an extraordinary mother and grandmother, putting her family's happiness above all else.
Throughout her life, Molly gathered a collection of dear friends, from the "Ladies of the Home who met in grade school in Dayton to the Jetton Park Walking Group in Cornelius. Everywhere Molly lived, she made lasting friendships with neighbors, coworkers, and fellow parishioners.
Molly enjoyed baking, gardening, and dessert with every meal. She took great pleasure in decorating her home and entertaining around the holidays.
She had profound faith which she truly lived every day. She was actively involved in several parishes throughout her life, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteering wherever needed.
Molly was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents Mary & Robert Payne, and her brother Robert Payne. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Conger, her sons Bill, Craig, and Kyle Conger; and her grandchildren, Chase Conger, Christian Conger, Reilly Webb, Brennan Conger, Nora Webb, and Savanna Conger.
