| T.B. Roney August 12, 1929 - September 13, 2014 |
He was born August 12, 1929 in Newville, AL to the late Willie H. and Ludie S. Roney. He graduated from Dothan High School and played football at the University of Florida where he became a lifelong Gator fan. Bruce worked for Eastern Airlines for 35 years and then Nascar for 15 years, afterwards retiring to the mountains in Sparta, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Georgia B. Roney; and one son Bruce Roney, Jr. (Pat) of Huntersville, NC; one daughter, Lousie Medlin (Jimmy) of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Dona Lisk (Greg), Nic Presson, (Rebeca), Nichole Griffin, (Patrick), Georgia Brotherton, (Adam) and TB Roney III, (Corie); eight great-grandchildren, Hadlea and Hunter Presson, Brent, Grant and Caroline Lisk, Blake and Paige Brotherton, and Harper Griffin and two step-grandchildren Nicole and Greg Medlin; two sisters, Sarah McKnight and Christine Beasley both of Alabama, in addition to many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Ethridge from Alabama.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 1:00 PM at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1623 Carmel Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226 officiated by Father Josh Bowron and Chaplain J.D. Parker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204. After the service the family will meet at the home of the daughter Louise and Jimmy Medlin.
